Performance Measures
It is not possible to monitor 100 percent of the care provided to every member all of the time. Performance measures allow you to target aspects of your program that may require special monitoring because of the risk of poor care, the complexity of a member’s condition or care needs, the potential for under use or over use of services, or the historical failure to meet desired benchmarks.
Performance measures also provide information on quality that can help beneficiaries and providers make informed choices. Measures that are meaningful to consumers help them determine where and from whom to get care. Providers use quality measures to improve their operations.
