If you want to evaluate whether the person can make informed-decisions, you may want to consider using the following questions:

• Does the person understand that a particular decision needs to be made?

• Does the person understand the options that are available in making the decision?

• Does the person understand the consequence(s) of each option?

• Is the person able to properly inform the appropriate parties once the decision has been made?

If the person has difficulty or is unable to make and communicate decisions, then the person may need some level of guardianship. However, the person does not necessarily need full guardianship.
